Useful Conversion Factors between Units of Fundamental Physical Constants

Certain fundamental physical constants have special importance on account of their universality or place in fundamental theory. A lot of early scientific work was done using the CGS system that has as base units the centimetre, gram and second. The table below lists the more common conversion factors between SI and CGS units.

Table 1: Length
CGS unit SI unit Reciprocal
1 inch (in)
= 2.54 * 10-2 m
39.370079

1 foot (ft)
= 0.3048 m
3.280839

1 yard (yd)
= 0.9144 m
1.093613

1 mile (mi)
= 1.609344*103 m
6.213712 * 10-4

Table 2: Area
